Yellowstone bison traveling on the winter roads

West Yellowstone is OPEN!

UPDATE 1/28/2019
With the enactment of the continuing resolution, staff at Yellowstone National Park resumed regular operations on Sunday, January 27, 2019.
  • Visitor centers normally open at this time of year have re-opened as of 11:00 am on Sunday, January 27
  • The Park has resumed collecting entrance fees as of Sunday, January 27
  • On Monday, January 28, a majority of furloughed staff will return and open the remaining park functions. For example, employees will begin to process the backlog of applications for special use permits, film permits, commercial use authorizations and research permits. By midday, the public will also be able to obtain permits for the non-commercially-guided snowmobile access program. The public affairs office will also re-open Monday.
  • The Park asks for patience as employees work to re-open facilities and operations in a manner that is safe for them and the public. There is a lot of snow removal needed around buildings and safety checks that must be completed.
As a reminder, all of our hotels and cabins in West Yellowstone remain open for business as usual, as well as all tours run by Yellowstone Vacation Tours into and outside of Yellowstone! Your hotel/tour reservations will not be affected in any way, and there is no need to alter your travel plans.

We are excited for your arrival and hope you have a wonderful stay!

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. To learn more about the government shutdown, please visit www.nps.gov.
