Summer is the area’s most popular season for a variety of reasons.  Amazing weather, gorgeous scenery, and prime wildlife viewing opportunities are probably the most popular.  The town’s western hospitality welcomes a variety of visitors every summer, no matter your interest or ability level, there is something for you in Yellowstone!

Our top ten favorite summer activities:

  • Explore The Park – Probably the most popular reason for visiting the area, Yellowstone provides endless hours of exploring.  Whether you prefer car, guided tour, bicycle, horseback, or foot, you’re sure to find the perfect method of transportation for your exploration!  Be sure to bring a camera!
  • Fishing – Readily available throughout the area, and one of the park’s more popular activities.  There is an abundance of great river and lake fishing in the area, so pack up your gear for your trip!
  • Mountain Biking – For the more adventurous explorer, there are miles upon miles of trails to ride in the West Yellowstone area .Choose from a variety of difficulty levels and routes to plan your perfect day.
  • Cultural Attractions – Museums, theatrical productions, IMAX, and more!
  • Virginia and Nevada Cities – Step back in time and experience the old west’s mining days.  Take some time to learn how to pan for gold, visit Boot Hill Cemetery and Robber’s Roost, and enjoy a taste of days gone by.
  • Bear Sightings – Yellowstone is home to both black and grizzly bears.  Take a guided tour to experience these amazing animals in their natural habitat.
